Assistant textile conservator Gennifer Majors will present her work on a variety of hooked rugs from Shelburne Museum’s collection. This discussion will briefly cover her research into new methods for stain removal and methods to recreate lost sections of rug designs, stabilize damaged areas, and prepare the rugs for future exhibitions. Gennifer’s work at Shelburne Museum is funded in part through an Institute for Museum and Library Services Museums for America grant. Pre-registration appreciated but not required at conservation-month-hooked-rugs.eventbrite.com.
