A legacy of philanthropy has distinguished Shelburne Museum throughout its history. Today’s donors can express their generosity in many ways. Outright gifts go directly to where they are needed most. Museum memberships at a variety of levels offer valuable benefits. However you choose to give, your support allows the Museum to continue its longstanding commitment to history, art, and access for all.

Annual Fund

A gift to Shelburne Museum’s Annual Fund provides direct and immediate support for our extraordinary exhibitions, for stimulating educational opportunities available to all our visitors, and for the thoughtful care of our diverse collections. The Annual Fund also supports the Museum’s buildings, gardens, and forty-five beautifully landscaped acres.

Contributions to the Annual Fund are tax-deductible to the fullest extent provided by law; gifts of $100 and above are acknowledged with a one-year Family Plus Membership.

Planned Giving

Make a lasting impact with your planned gift. A bequest or a charitable trust can be a transformative tool to strengthen the future of the Museum. In many cases, a planned gift may provide an attractive and appropriate alternative to an outright donation. Those valued donors who have arranged for a planned gift to the Museum are automatically made Members of the Electra Havemeyer Webb Legacy Society (see below).

  • Bequests: It is a simple and generous thing to name Shelburne Museum in your will with a bequest of cash, securities, or other assets.
  • Charitable Gift Annuities: Shelburne Museum can administer charitable gift annuities (minimum contribution: $10,000) that can provide you with both an immediate tax deduction and a guaranteed income for life.

Other types of planned or deferred gifts include charitable remainder trusts, a gift of life insurance, or a gift of retirement plan assets such as an IRA or 401k. We are happy to work with you to determine a scenario that will suit your interests as well as the Museum’s. For more information or to receive an illustration of how a charitable gift annuity can work for you, please contact David Juntington:
