Quite a Ride

Discover what we learned about the menagerie and panels from Shelburne Museum’s 1902 Dentzel carousel as a result of conservation treatment. Forty individuals preparing for a career in art conservation have come to Shelburne Museum to removed discolored coating materials from the painted surfaces of the museum’s Dentzel Carousel over the last 34 years. Learn how they did it and what we learned about the carousel and its history as a result of that work.
