SHELBURNE, Vt. (January 15, 2026)—Wood’s CRW Corporation has donated a Volvo ECR25 electric compact excavator to Shelburne Museum, reinforcing the company’s commitment to supporting local organizations and promoting sustainable solutions across New England.
Wood’s CRW team members delivered the machine to the museum’s 45-acre campus this week, where it will be used for a wide range of grounds, landscaping, and site-improvement projects throughout the year.
“We are delighted to accept this generous gift from Wood’s CRW. It will be of immediate use. The fact that it is electric aligns with the museum’s commitment to sustainability in all we do. We view our stewardship mission as extending beyond our collections and 39 structures to the landscape itself and strive to minimize our impact to the greatest degree possible,” said Tom Denenberg, the John Wilmerding Director of Shelburne Museum.
The battery-powered excavator provides the same digging performance as traditional diesel machines while producing zero tailpipe emissions and significantly lower noise levels—benefits that make it ideal for use around historic buildings, public gathering areas, art installations, and high-visitor-traffic zones.
This marks the first electric construction machine in Shelburne Museum’s maintenance fleet and represents a significant step in the museum’s ongoing sustainability and preservation efforts.
Volvo Construction Equipment, the manufacturer of the donated machine, has been advancing electric compact equipment technology across North America. Wood’s CRW, as a long-time Volvo dealer, is helping introduce these solutions to organizations seeking to reduce noise, fuel consumption, and environmental impact without sacrificing performance.
“Shelburne Museum has been an important part of our community for generations, and it’s an organization we’ve long admired for how it preserves Vermont’s history while continuing to evolve for the future,” said Chris Palmer, President of Wood’s CRW. “We’re proud to support their work with a machine that helps them care for their campus in a quieter, more sustainable way, and we’re excited to partner with them as they continue to serve visitors and the region.”
For Wood’s CRW, the donation is part of a long-standing commitment to serving the communities where the company lives and works. Wood’s CRW has served New England for more than 60 years, providing equipment, service, and support to contractors, municipalities, and nonprofit organizations.
A Shared Commitment to Community and Sustainability
Shelburne Museum maintains more than three dozen structures, extensive gardens, walking paths, and historic landscapes, work that requires reliable equipment and thoughtful environmental stewardship. The addition of an electric excavator will enable the team to complete maintenance tasks more quietly and efficiently with reduced impact on visitors and nearby exhibits.
