William Wegman, Water Work, 1998. Chromogenic Print, Edition 7/12, 14 x 11 in. Courtesy of the artist and Sperone Westwater, New York.

William Wegman is one of the most prominent and influential American contemporary artists. His prolific, multi-decade career spans a myriad of media—from his early conceptual films to his celebrated Polaroid photographs of his beloved Weimaraners—and has touched countless lives through his popular children’s books and contributions to programs such as Sesame Street and Saturday Night Live. Shelburne Museum is thrilled to be featuring a small survey of over four decades of Wegman’s works of art in collaboration with nature, play, and humor.
