Bench Space is a site-specific exhibition celebrating contemporary furniture designers’ and artists’ inspirations and interpretations of the world around them. Shelburne Museum encompasses over 45 acres of landscaped gardens, providing unique visitor experiences among its 39 historic buildings that house its varied permanent collection. Along the multiple pathways across the Museum, benches not only provide targeted moments of rest and contemplation, but they also build connective tissue linking the outside landscape to the buildings and its collections held within. In celebration of contemporary furniture design, Bench Space features five innovative artists working in a variety of media: Peter Dellert, Louis Lim, Celeste Roberge, Mitch Ryerson, and Johnny Swing.
