Welcome to the updated Shelburne Museum website! Recently, you may have received a newsletter with a distinctly new look, logo and color palette. Or you might have seen our freshly painted sign and new visitor guide. Over the past year, we have re-imagined the Shelburne Museum identity and are in the process of incorporating it into the Museum grounds and communications systems as well as developing this new website and mobile platform. In the coming months you’ll begin to notice this new look spreading across all Museum signage, communication and eventually to new digital platforms.
This identity conveys Shelburne Museum’s purpose, to enrich people’s lives through art, history and culture. It includes the four themes within the Museum’s collection: color, pattern, whimsy and scale. Rationally, this brand gives our audience the opportunity to discover and explore something unique and unexpected. Emotionally it allows the audience to see how the beauty of an experience mixes intimate and expansive perspectives and creates a sense of place. Culturally, the brand celebrates a collective connection of multi-generational relevance and the love of eccentric Vermont.
The goal of this website development project was to create a visually and functionally compelling digital experience worthy of a thought-provoking, creative institution like Shelburne Museum. Some of the new website components include intuitive navigation that grants easy access to the most frequently desired content and user-friendly content management system for ongoing content development. We also developed an improved e-commerce platform to better facilitate the process of purchasing memberships, donating to the Museum and purchasing tickets for events. Responsive design and compatibility for desktop and mobile systems were necessary considerations within this project.
