Nancy Crow, Seeking Beauty: Riffs on Repetition
May 11 - Oct 31View Gallery
Acclaimed contemporary textile artist Nancy Crow takes quilting to another realm by incorporating printmaking in her quilt making. Crow has spent the better part of a decade mastering mark making on textiles. The result has been abstract works that marry texture with pattern and color.
Seeking Beauty includes examples of quilts made from 2006 to the present that feature monoprints and prints using screens made by the artist.
Crow is recognized as one of the world’s foremost contemporary quilters. Her work is in collections at the Renwick Gallery of the Smithsonian Institution, the American Folk Art Museum, the Museum of Art and Design, and others. She is a fellow of the American Crafts Council, member of the Quilters’ Hall of Fame and a recipient of the prestigious National Living Treasure Award.
On view in Hat and Fragrance Textile Gallery.
