SUMMARY:Brick House Tours
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy a guided one-hour walking tour of the Brick House at Shelburne Museum. The elegant Brick House was the Vermont home of Shelburne Museum Founder Electra Havemeyer Webb and her husband\, James Watson Webb. Located about two miles from the Museum’s main campus on the shores of Lake Champlain\, this incomparable residence is where the Webbs spent their time while in Vermont entertaining\, and vacationing with family. \nThe Brick House was a place where Mrs. Webb experimented with different ideas for displaying objects in her collection\, and many of these ideas influenced the plans for and design of the Museum. In 2004 the Brick House was restored to her original vision for the home\, reflecting the Colonial Revival style of the period\, and remains a tribute to her unique signature taste. Visitors today can see recreated interiors featuring inventive combinations of early American furniture\, textiles\, folk art\, and more. \nTickets are $35 for Members and $45 for non-Members. Please plan on arriving 10-15 minutes in advance of your tour start time to allow time for parking on the property. \nPlease note: The tour is a walking experience\, and the historic building has no elevators or escalators\, and no heat or air conditioning\, so we recommend comfortable footwear\, and clothing appropriate for the weather. \n
