Shelburne Museum is a fun and fascinating destination for families, designed to entertain as well as educate. An exciting schedule of creative, fun activities for children throughout the season is planned for visitors of all ages. Special family admission rates are available, and a Family Membership is an excellent value for families planning to make multiple visits.
Some highlights for families:Owl Cottage Family Activity CenterOwl Cottage is a craft and activity center for children and their families. It includes a reading area, workroom for art and craft projects, and a play area with toys, games, puzzles, and a costume area. Owl Cottage is the location for art projects and craft activities offered by Museum staff daily in July and August and are free with admission to the Museum. 1920s Vintage CarouselLocated near the Museum entrance, the 1920s carousel is open throughout the season. Rides are accompanied by circus music and the carousel is one of the most popular destinations at the Museum for young children. Hours of operation are subject to change due to weather; it is recommended that visitors call the Museum at (802) 985-3346 for a specific day's schedule. Alyssia's GardenAlyssia's Garden is a 19th-century-style playground surrounded by beautiful perennials and adjacent to the Vergennes Schoolhouse. It features a slide, swings, and 19th-century games. |

Free Craft ActivitiesPrograms are scheduled noon - 4 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. and take place throughout the Museum grounds and in the Owl Cottage Family Activity Center. August 28: Watercolor Wonder: Paint your own landscape inspired by Ogden Pleissner's paintings.
