Planned Giving
For donors seeking to make a lasting impact planned gifts – such as bequests or charitable trusts – are among the most important financial tools to strengthen the future of the Museum and are often an attractive and appropriate alternative to outright donations.
Shelburne Museum welcomes a variety of planned gifts. Among the most common:
- Bequests. Naming Shelburne Museum in your will with a bequest of cash, securities, or other assets is a simple and easy way to bolster the future of the Museum.
- Charitable Gift Annuities. Shelburne Museum can administer charitable gift annuities (minimum contribution: $10,000) that provide you both an immediate tax deduction and a guaranteed income for life.
Other types of planned or deferred gifts include charitable remainder trusts, a gift of life insurance, or a gift of retirement plan assets such as an IRA or 401k.
For more information about planned giving opportunities or to receive an illustration of how a charitable gift annuity can work for you, please contact Director of Development Sam Ankerson: (802) 985-3346 x3330 or sankerson@shelburnemuseum.org.
Electra Havemeyer Webb Legacy Society
Members of the Electra Havemeyer Webb Legacy Society have named Shelburne Museum in their will and/or have made a commitment of a planned gift in support of the Museum. The Society is named for Shelburne Museum’s founder and is established to recognize the enduring generosity and support of its Members. Special events such as lectures, lunches, and tours are planned for the Society.
