Art on the Go

From June 16 to September 1, 2014 our bright blue Art on the Go cart will be filled with art supplies, games, activities and books based on the theme of Impressionism, and will be stationed in the Pizzagalli Center for Art and Education.

Participate in fun, hands-on art-making activities that relate to the exhibition In a New Light: French Impressionism Arrives in America, weekdays at the Pizzagalli Center for Art at Education. See the schedule of activities below for further details.

Create a Puzzle

When looking at an Impressionist painting up close, the subject may not be clear. Sometimes it is necessary to take a step back to see the completed picture. Impressionist paintings are like puzzles. One needs a lot of pieces to understand the entire picture. Create your own puzzle inspired by the Impressionist paintings at Shelburne Museum.

En Plein Air

June 23-27, July 7-11, July 21-25, Aug. 4-8

11 a.m.

Most Impressionists chose to paint en plein air, or outdoors, instead of, or in addition to, painting in their studios. Using chalk pastels, create an “En Plein Air” painting inspired by the Shelburne Museum landscape.

Join us and create a miniature self-portrait by inserting your face into the space of an American painting from the Shelburne Museum’s collection.

Grandma Moses Inspired Collage

Grandma Moses, a renowned American Folk artist, is known for capturing everyday life scenes around her. In the style of Grandma Moses, create a unique collage depicting your favorite place, home, or space.
